PLAYERS WHO PLAYED BETTER THAN EXPECTED & DISAPPOINTMENTS
Justin Ross Seems to always play and -23 a course record. He was outstanding and at 46 he is always a threat. He proved that last year when he came close to defeating Rory McIlroy in a playoff at the Masters and enabled McIlroy to win the career Grand Slam. Opening odds 50/1.
Joel Dahmen Only made the tournament as an alternate, did not finish in the FedX top 100 in 2025 (122). He is playing on conditional status after losing his full tour card. He and Harry Higgs are 2 fan favorites and are remembered for taking off their shirts at the famous 16th hole in the 2022 Waste Management Phoenix open. He will be in the field next week on a Sponsors Exemption. Faded in RD4 when 5 strokes behind Rose to finish 7th.
Seamus Power Like Dahmen he was in the tournament for 1st 2 RDs but faded in RD3&4.
He has 2 PGA wins, the last The Butterfield Championship in 2023, when the Irish singing group (Dropkick Murphy’s) made a song in his honor. Has back issues and like Dahman conditional status (117) for 2026 that gives him limited privileges due to injury.
Si Woo Kim I hammered him for fading from #1 to#18 last week, but a real good tournament.
Coody 2nd, Theegala 7th, Jake Knapp 5th, Keith Mitchell & Matsuyama 11th.
Disappointments: Schauffler, Aberg, Young, Cantlay, Bradley, Spahn all picked in top 10.
