Last years pre tournament favorites were Rahm, Morikawa, Thomas, McIlroy, Hovland.

None made the top 6.  Jon Rahm withdraws after 71, his 4th straight 70+ round.

3 holes in 1 on 17, Hayden Buckley RD1 MC, Aaron Rai RD3 T15, Adam Smalley RD4 T65.

ROUND 1 & ODDS POST RD 1

1# Chad Ramey(1,000/1)-8 64 missed course record by 1 (63).  Only 1 top 10 this year.   35/1

#2 Morikawa(28/1)-7 65 5 under par on 1st 6 holes, just missed birdie putts on last 3 holes 3/1

#6 Scottie Scheffler-4 68 Shot-4 front 9 then pared back 9, the start of a run.  5/1 

#T118 Rory McIlroy+4 76 another poor start, DB on his 1st hole #10 only 1 birdie.    90/1

ROUND 2 Difficult conditions.  Very windy, rough very thick, cut moved from+1 to+2.

Ramey birdied 1st 2 holes, but landed in water twice on 17, his 8th hole since he started on 10.

His 2 stroke-9 lead drops him to-5 #6 with a quad bogie.  It cost him a chance to win. 

Only 13 golfers out of 143 broke 70 today.

#1 Adam Svensson-9 Six birdies, 1 bogie lowest round of day. 7/1

#2 Scottie Scheffler-7 69 Birdied 4 of last 10 holes. 2/1

#3 Colin Morikawa, Lee & Bezuidenhout who bogies last 2 holes to loose lead-6 70     18/1

#9 Hovland-4 68 Typical round 6 birdie, BUT 2 bogies. 14/1

#41 Matsuyama-3 70 Sneaking back after+2 first round.

ROUND 3 & ODDS POST RD 3 Weather and set up best yet for scoring.  41 out of 75 golfers broke 70.

Tom Hoge shoots 62 for record and moves from #65 to 8.  

Ramey bounced back from Quad bogie on 17 to tie for 4th.    

#1 Scheffler 65-14 birdies 2 of last 3 holes to take 2 stroke lead.  3/1

#2 Lee 66-12 eagles first hole, then 5 birdies to tie for lead, then bogies 18to finish 2nd. 6/1  

#3 Davis 67-10 1 eagle 3 birdies 0 bogies to go from #7 to #3. 25/1

#7 SJ IM 64-8 72 6 birdies 3 bogues, 1 DB.  No chance to win. 40/1

#11 Rose 67-7 Always hangs in there, DB on 17 cost him about $700,000   100/1

FINAL ROUND Tyrrell Hatton-12 65 shoots a record 29 on the back 9, 7 birdies 2 pars from #24 to #2.  Hoge 6 birdies including 17, 2 bogies, 1 DB 70, not great but nice $.  

Hovland, if he can ever putt and have a consistent short game he will win, he is his own worst enemy.  Matsuyama 7 birdies on first 13 holes then+3 for last 5 but glad he is back.  I feel LIV is targeting him.  Morikawa slips from 3rd to 13th.  72 &71 on last 2 rounds.  Nice player but he can’t make clutch putts and it hurts his ability to win.

BETTERS:  If you had bet $100 on McIlroy, Rahm & Scheffler to win you would have bet $300 and won $1200.  It is very difficult to pick an outright winner.
