VALERO TEXAS OPEN
TPC SAN ANTONIO OAKS COURSE
PURSE $9.8MAPR 2-5, 2026
HISTORY
This is the 3rd oldest tournament which started in 1922 and has always been played in San Antonio. I don’t know what the PGA has planned for future scheduling, but I hope it is not to cancel tournaments like this. Arnold Palmer won 3 straight times, 1960,61&62, Jorden Spieth 2021, Justin Leonard 3 times 2000,01&07, Ben Crenshaw 1973&86, Chi Chi Rodriguez 1967,
Sam Snead 1948&50, Ben Hogan 1946, Byron Nelson 1940 and Walter Hagen 1923.
Of all major sports golf has the best history and traditions and a tournament like this proves it.
FAVORITES Field is 132 players with Brian Harmon defending champion.
1 Tommy Fleetwood 15/1 With the success of fellow BritMatt Fitzpatrick could win.
1 Ludvig Aberg 15/1 He blew The Players and I can’t pick him again until he wins.
3 Russell Henley 16/1 He is 36 and has 5 wins the last 2025 AP, running out of time.
4 Jordan Spieth 18/1 Game keeps getting better and it would be nice to see him win in Texas.
4 Robert MacIntyre 18/1 He has come close this year and I pick him to win, but don’t bet on it.
6 Si Woo Kim 22/1 Always picked in top 10 or better but he blew the Valspar 2 weeks ago.
6 Sepp Straka 22/1 Always in the hunt, probably a good bet behind MacIntyre, again don’t bet.
6 Hideki Matsuyama 22/1 Has had a good year, but no wins since The Sentry Jan 2025.
9 Maverick McNealy 27/1 Another having a good year and with these odds maybe a good bet.
10 Michael Thorbjornsen 30 Another guy like Aberg, should win sometime bur never does.
11 Rickie Fowler 30/1 Every time he comes here has to win to get into the Masters, no again.
LONG SHOTS
1 Johnny Keefer 40/1 This year missed 3 of 4 cuts but finished 3rd last week.
2 S Yellamaraju 45/1 This year 2 top 10’s 1 top 20, made all 5 cuts.
3 Marco Pange 50/1 I have no doubt that he will win this year but not a Major or Signature.
4 Jordan Smith 65/1 Love what he did at Valspar, 7 shots down & shoots 66 RD4 almost wins.
Picture of 16th Hole
A unique 197’ par 3 with bunkers on both sides and 1 in the middle of the green, which divides the green into 3 smaller targets. It is a tribute to the 16th at Riviera.
