Blog#312B FINAL ROUND AT&T PEBBLE BEACH PRO AM FEB 16, 2026

Weather Cold rainy windy with gusts up to 30MPH. Starting time moved up and ended 3:00PM PCT. Another great tournament where several players could have won and it was decided on the last hole which Morikawa birdies to avoid a tie with Mi Woo Kim.

Anyone of these 5 could have won except for a shot or 2.

1 Collin Morikawa-22 RDs of 69,68,62,67 and his 1st win in the USA since the US Open in

July 2021. His last PGA win was the ZoZo Championship Oct 2023 in Japan. He has struggled, especially with his putting. He received a new putter from his friend Kurt Kitayama and putted very well in this tournament. His long birdie putt on #15 gave him the lead which he extended to 2 strokes with a birdie on #16. However a bogie on 17 ties him with Mi Wo Lee and it looks like a playoff, as the wind had picked up to 25MPH gusts. His tee shot on 18 is dangerously close to going into the ocean but winds up in good position in the faraway. He then has a 20 minuet delay waiting for Bridgeman to scramble, and Morikawa’s approach shot is just off the green and his 3rd shot is within 2 feet from the hole and he birdies for the win.

2 Min Woo Lee-21 RDs of 67,65,70,65. Birdies last 2 holes and a total of 8 for the RD.

A bogie on 10 spoils his bogie free RD and cost him a spot in a playoff.

4 Scottie Scheffler-20 RDs of 70,66,67,63. Three bogies (also 3 eagles his 1st ever in a RD) and low RD, like last week his 1st RD costs him a chance to win. He actually tied for the lead on #14 at-19, but then a bogie on 15 keeps him out of a chance to win despite eagle on 18.

6 Sam Burns-19 RTDs of 63,67,72,67. He has 6 birdies on front 9, and takes the lead with a birdie on 13, but finishes with 3 pars and a bogie on 18.

6 Akshay Bhatia-19 He had a 5 stroke lead after birdieing 6 of 1st 7 holes yesterday, but 2 bogies and 0 birdies for the next 11 and 2 bogies 2 birdies on final RD.

Others who played well enough to win, but never seemed a true contender.

4 Tommy Fleetwood-20 Four RDs under 70 and starts with bogie on 1st hole in RD4 to go-13.

Finishes strong with 4 birdies last 6 holes but never a threat to win.

8 Ryo Hisatsune-18 He led 1st 2 RDs and has played well all year, but a 74 in RD3 and on RD 4

starts and finishes with eagles but only-1 in between.

2 Sepp Srtaka-21 Starts with 3 bogies 3 birdies 1st 15 holes then 2 birdies & eagle to late.

8 Jake Knapp-18 Had a great tournament and has had a very good year bot +1 thru 17 holes before his 2nd straight birdie on 18.

8 Jacob Bridgeman-18 Starts with 4 birdies 1st 5 holes then falls apart 4 bogies last 10.

On 18 hits far left and lands on the beach facing impossible shot above the cliff.

Misses and takes a penalty to place ball back on fairway and saves a bogie 6.

Entire process took 20 minuets to cause Morikawa to wait on the fairway for his 2nd shot.

8 H Matsuyama-18 Starts with 2 birdies, finishes with birdie on 18 bu 3 bogies in between.

If he can play like he did in RD 1,2,3( 2 bogies) he could win next week and will be my favorite.

8 Shane Lowry-189 Four RDs under 70, never in the hunt but bogie free RD2.

14 Rory McIlroy-17 Best for last bogie free 8 birdies. First 3 RDs 3 Doubles&1Triple bogies.

#14 M Fitzpatrick-17 #19 R Fowler, R Henley, X Schauffele-15, #29 J Spieth, K Bradley-13.

LIV update;

While the future of LIV is up in the air, they had a very good tournament at The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide, Australia. Anthony Kim won at 40 years old made $4M shooting a bogie free

63 (-9) in the final RD with the last group including Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.

A crowd of almost 40,000 watched him comeback from 5 strokes down to win by 3.

He won three PGA events and was on Ryder Cup in 2008, however an Achilles injury in 2012 led to addiction problems which kept him out of golf for 12 years. He signed with LIV in 2024 but had little success. Following a difficult 2025 season he was relegated and had to earn his 2026 return to LIV by finishing in the top 3 of “The LIV Golf Promotions” event held in

Lecanto FL January 8-11, 2026.
