COMMENTARY

Sam Burns was in the clubhouse at-18. Ryan Fox was-14 thru 13 and had to birdie at least 3 of the last 5 holes, with 16&17 the most difficult. Misses a short birdie putt on 17, but makes 20’ putt on 18 with birdies on 14&15 to tie and force a playoff.

He birdied #18 all 4 days. Both players made very long putts on 18.

PLAYOFF Burns misses 5’ putt on 1st playoff hole. On 4th hole Fox’s 2nd shot within 6’ of hole. Burns poor 2nd shot goes off green and he 3 putts for par. Fox 2 putts birdie to win.

Without a doubt golf is the hardest sport to win. Sam Burns did everything but win. Burns is best friends with Scottie Scheffler and after he played so well in Rd4 (62) he deserved to win.

Give Fox credit, he won again with clutch shots, as he did last month at Myrtle Beach.

I hope Burns can come back from this disappointment and win this year.
