HISTORY

This is the 49th tournament started by Jack in 1976 won by Roger Maltbie whose 1st place earned $40,000. It is the 7th signature event of this year with a field of 72, and at Jack’s insistent there will be a cut. The 2025 Honoree is Barbara Nicklaus.

MY WINNER

Hard to not go with Scottie, if he struggles like last week, Ludvig Aberg wakes up and wins.

FAVORITES

1 S. Scheffler(3/1) Won last year and should repeat, 4th last week without his best.

2 X Schauffele(14/1) 8th last week and getting better each week but not there yet.

3 C Morikawa(16/1) 2nd last year by 1 and again could not make clutch putts.

4 J Thomas(18/1) Game improving each week, he could sneak in.

5 P Cantlay(20/1) I thought he had a chance last year but+7 cut , won in 2019&2021.

6 L Aberg(22/1) Has had an up&down year but may snap out of it this week.

7 V Hovland(30/1) Won Valspar, 3 missed cuts and no other top 10’s this year.

8 C Connors(33/1) Has made 12 of 13 cuts this year, 3rd at Arnold Palmer, is due to win.

9 T Fleetwood(33/1) 4th last weekend & 4th Truist week before, but when will he win?

10 H Matuyama(35/1) Not in contention since winning 1st tournament of year, Sentry.

LONG-SHOTS

S Straka(40/1) Tied for 2nd after RD3 last year and has won Truist&AmXp this year.

S Lowry(40/1) Poor putting at Truist cost him the win, played well at Masters.

A Novak(100/1) Missed cut at PGA, lost in playoff to Thomas at Heritage, won Zurich.

J Rose(100/1) He almost won the Masters, won Memorial in 2010, has 25 Pro wins.

S Jaeger(120/1) Made 13 of 15 cuts and $2.8M in 2025, won Huston Open in 2024.

VERY, VERY LONG- SHOTS , BUT WOULDN’T IT BE NICE TO AT LEAST MAKE TOP 10.

J Spieth(35/1) To many bogies and putting inconsistent, but you have to love the guy.

R Fowler(80/1) Was in the hunt last week and finished 14th.

M Homa(70/1) Has had an awful year, would be great to see him play well.

H Higgs(N/O) 2nd at Myrtle Beach played 14 PGA events 2025 made $544K OGWR#142.

M Greyserman(120/1) I keep picking him but he can’t seem to get it done.

The 12th hole is my favorite at Muirfield. Patterned after #12 at Augusta. To the left of the small green temporary structure is an Amphitheater for fans as are most of the finishing holes.
