5 Akshay Bhatia-7 66 Bogie free with 4 birdies, only 2 bogies in 2 RDs.

7 Rickie Fowler-6(110/1) Starts on 10 scores 29 front 9 with 6 birdies, then pars back 9.

7 Tommy Fleetwood-6 67 Two nice RDs this week but he needs a 63 or 64 to win.

46 Scottie Scheffler-1 71 Just makes the cut but other than a few holes did not play well.

61 Jordan Spieth+1 71 Birdies 17 to avoid cut but 5 bogies in 2 RDs?

Cut-E Blades Brown, Davis Riley, Alex Smalley, Jake Knapp+2

ROUND 3 I think the winner will come from the top 5 and I give edge to Akshay Bhatia, although he has a habit of 1 bad RD. Griffin is my 2nd choice, but in 2023, rookie year, blows a 3 stroke lead late at Sanderson, missed a 6’ putt on 18 and loses in a playoff.

1 Ben Griffin-13 68 Starts with 3 birdies but DB#5 bogie#6 then 2 birdies no bogies.

1 Matti Schmid-13 68 Starts with 3 birdies takes a 2 stroke on 5 then 2 bogies.

3 Rickie Fowler-9 67 Birdies 3 of 1st 6 holes then finishes with par for last 14.

4 Robert MacIntyre-9 64 Birdies 4 of last 5 holes to move up 31 spots.

4 Akshay Bhatia-10 69 Four birdies 1 bogie thru 12, DB’s #11 RD4.

7 Scottie Scheffler-7 64 Five birdies 1 eagle 1st 11 holes then 3 bogies 2 birdies.

13 Tommy Fleetwood-6 70 Three birdies 3 bogies, not good enough to win.

33 Jorden Spieth-3 67 Eagles from bunker on 1, birdies 2,10,15 with 2 bogies.

FINAL ROUND Hard to imagine both players will blow a 4 stroke lead & they did not.

1Ben Griffin-15 Eagles 1st hole birdies 2nd for 3 shot lead, then 4 bogies. $1.7M

2 Matti Schmid-14 Birdies 1st hole bogies 2nd DB on 5 to go down by 5. $1.0M

4 Tommy Fleetwood-8 Four birdies front 9 then 3 bogies back. $428K

4 Scottie Scheffler-8 Birdies 1st hole then 1 more birdie and 1 bogie, never in it. $428K

16 Rickie Fowler-5 Played well 1st 3 RDs but 1DB 4 bogies for a 74 final RD. $140K

COMMENTARY

Almost deja vu from 2023 Sanderson(see Blog#245). Griffin has a 2 stroke lead going into #18, Schmidt holes out from off the green for birdie and Griffin has a tough 6’ putt too win. I thought he would miss, forcing a playoff which he would lose, but he makes the putt to win!!!
