Blog#231 The Masters April 10-13, 2025
Augusta National Par 72
Purse $20M same as last year
HISTORY
Scheffler won last year and is this years odds on favorite, my favorite is Rory.
Hole #12 starts Amen Corner then 14 and 15 could decide the tournament.
MY FAVORITES
1 Rory McIlroy 7/1 Great start this year with 2 wins and a 5th place 2 weeks ago in Houston. I think he is ready physically and mentally to win the Grand Slam.
2 Bryson DeChambeau 20/1 He was in it last year but shot 73 in RD4.
3 Collin Morikawa 16/1 Blows 3 stroke lead with 5 to go at API but he may win.
4 Ludvig Aberg 18/1 Missed cut at Players and did not play well at Arnold Palmer.
5 Justin Thomas 22/1 Could have won The Valspar but for 2 bogies on last few holes.
Upset unlikely, I feel one of these 5 will win.
MY LONG SHOTS
1 Scottie Scheffler 4/1 Could have won in Houston, I don’t think his game is there yet.
2 Joaquin Niemann 28/1 One of 2 Special Invitees and one of the best on LIV.
3 Brooks Koepka 30/1 Picked 5th favorite last year finished 45th, he will be motivated.
4 Viktor Hovland 35/1 Game back with win at Valspar, watch out.
5 Tyrrell Hatton 40/1 Won on DP in January but missed Masters cut last year.
SUPPER LONG SHOTS
1 Jon Rahm 14/1 Won in 2023, finished 45th last year 76 on final RD.
2 Hideki Matsuyama 28/1 First Japanese golfer to win a major, the 2021 Masters.
3 Jordan Spieth 33/1 First Masters was in 2014, was 2nd to Bubba Watson. Won his 1st major here in 2015. In 2016 he had a 5 stroke lead going into back 9 Of final RD. Hit 2 balls in the water on 12 for a quadruple bogie and finished 2nd.
4 Shane Lowry 35/1 If Rory does not win he may pick it up for his friend.
5 Max Greyserman 300/1 Don’t think he has a chance but he will surprise soon.
