the course treacherous and difficult. 

ROUND 1 Weather perfect 61* to 78* Wind 5 MPH Rain 0.  Nice to see Thomas 

and Spieth playing well and at the top the leader board.

ROUND 3 The winner should come from 1 of the 5.  Detry has a big lead but 

last year Charlie Hoffman blew a 3 stroke lead with 4 to go and lost in a playoff 

to Nick Taylor.  Detry has no PGA wins.  All top 5 players under 70 all 3 RDs.

2 R Hojgaard-13 65 Moves up 10 spots 1 eagle 1 bogie birdies last 2 holes.

1 T Detry-24 65 Was 90/1 and in complete control after Clark faded in RD2.    

He had the lowest score and at 32 his 1st PGA win. $1.7M

2 D Berger-17 One bogie 5 birdies his best tournament in quite a while. $818K

2 M Kim-17 Five birdies an 1 bogie, his 1st of the tournament, $818K

4 J Spieth-16 4 birdies but only 2 bogies for tournament. $414K

6 J Thomas-15 Finished strong -5 on last 6 holes. $311K

25 S Scheffler-9 Birdies 4 of 1st 6 holes then +5 on final 7. $69K

LIV FIRST OF 15 TOURNAMENTS FOR 2025 

Riyadh Golf Club Feb 6-8, 2025

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 

Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia and its financial hub.  Alcohol is not allowed and if ordinary people consume alcohol they will be finned and jailed.  Foreigners will also be deported.  Quite different that the atmosphere at the Phoenix Open.

There are no income or sales taxes.

This is the 1st of 15 LIV events and takes place at night.   TV coverage is on FOX1 from 

10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Thur & Fri and the final round Sunday.   

I still do not get or like the LIV format with team play, loud music and only a handful of recognized players.  However this format may appeal to new and younger golf fans, but

their TV ratings and attendance do not indicate that, especially in the events played in the USA.

This week Jay Monahan & Adam Scott met with President Trump requesting his assistance in working out an agreement between LIV & PGA. 

I watched about 1 hour on Friday morning.  The announcing team has improved by emphasizing the individual play rather than team play and acting like LIV cheerleaders instead of reporting the golf action.  Very sparse crowds.  Night venue is a joke. 

RD1 1 Adrian Meronk-10, 3 Lee Westwood & Tom Mckibbin-7, Tyrell Hatton & C. Howell III.

RD2 1 Adrian Meronk-14, 4 Tyrell Hatton-11, 6 Jon Rahm-10, 9 B DeChambeau.

I watched about another hour of the final RD on Saturday and with 2 TV’s was able to tune in the Waste Management at the same time.  I still feel that the fan who watches the coverage of the PGA event will find it difficult to watch or enjoy LIV.
