ROUND 1 Little wind great playing conditions.  Spyglass playing 2 shots harder than Pebble.

Both Shane Lowry (7th PB) & McIlroy (15 Spy) made Aces.

Spy & PB indicate courses each player is on for 1st 2 RDs, final 2 are played at Pebble Beach. 

1 Russell Henley-8 65 Spy 1 bogie 9 birdies .  Just average final 3 RDs $755.   Finish 5

2 Jake Knapp-7 65 PB bogie free 7 birdies. Two DBs final RD $99K. Finish 33

2 Justin Rose-765 PB 1 bogie 8 birdies.  Fades on final 11 holes    Finish 3

2 Cam Davis-7 65 PB  1 eagle 6 birdies but bogies #17 or tied for lead. Finish 5

2 Sepp Straka-7 65 Spy 1 bogie 8 birdies.  2 bogies on 16&17 RTD 4.  $640K Finish 7

2 Viktor Hovland-7 65 PB 1 bogie 8 birdies, but has 70+ each of final 3 RDs.. Finish 22

8 Rory McIlroy-6 66 Spy bogie free RD1 eagle(Ace) 4 birdies. Finish Wins

8 Justin Thomas-6 66 Spy good 1st RD but 70,74,71 last 3.  $49K. Finish 48

8 Patrick Cantlay-6 66 PB another good 1st RD but then 70,73, 70. Finish 33

36 Colin Morikawa-3 69 Spy Led at-6 after 11, inconstant  putting . Finish 17

36 Tom Kim-3 69 Spy bogie 4 birdies.  Four birdies on final RD. Finish 7

52 Jordan Spieth-2 70 Spy Starts with 3 birdies front 9. Final RD bogie free. Finish 69

52 Hideki Matsuyama-2 70 Spy 3 birdies but bogies his last hole. $272K Finish 48

69 Billy Horshcel E 72 DB on 18, great final RD 66 moves up 61spots, $535K Finish 9

77 Wyndham Clark+2 74 PB 1 bogie 1 DB 1 3XB 4 birdies.  4 RDs +70. $33K Finish 73

ROUND 2 Wind picked up and cooler weather in afternoon.

Aberg withdraws due to illness, after shooting 77, so does Greyserman 77 RD 2.

1 S Streka-14  65 PB starts with 3 straight birdies-5 on front 9, 3 birdies 1 bogie back.

2 C Davis-12 stats with an eagle on #1 and bogies #18-4 in between. 

14 R McIlroy-8 70 PB Starts with 4 birdies first 7 holes, 4 bogies from 12 to 17 then eagles 18.

ROUND 3 Only 9 of 79 players + par after 2 RDs including Wyndham Clark+3. 

Weather difficult with rain and winds 15 to 20MPH with gusts of 28.  Amazing how these players can adapt to such conditions.  Several scoring well early but then fading, example,

Jake Knapp started with 5 birdies on his 1st 6 holes then 4 bogies on back 9.

McIlroy, Kim,. Lowry shine, Streka fades but comes back, Glover, Davis, Rose hang in there. 

1 S Streka-16 70 birdies 1st 2 holes, 4 bogies to lose lead, 4 birdies at end to regain lead.

2 R McIlroy-15 65 Bogie free RD 4 birdies front 9 the birdies 3 of final 4 holes for lead.

2 S Lowry-15 65 One eagle 2 birdies first 3 holes, then birdies 4 of last 8 holes.

4 T Kim-14 68 Four bogies 8 birdies.  Criticized on final RD by Frank Nobilo for slow play!  

10 S Scheffler-10 69 Five birdies 2 bogies,  birdies #16&18, but can he make up 5/6 strokes?

FINAL ROUND Weather much better, sunny but windy 15-20 MPH.

Unquestionably best of the 1st 5 tournaments.   From RD3 four players -15, 3-16.

McIlroy birdies famous #7 for lead-17 then 1st bogie in 2 days for another tie for lead.

On front 9 McIlroy, Streka, Kim-16.  Kim leads in birdies with 4 but has 2 bogies.

Back 9 Glover birdies 11&12 ties for lead, McIlroy birdies 12 to regain lead Kim bogies 12,

then Rory takes over on back 9 with his 3rd eagle and .

1 R McIlroy-21 66 Dominates back 9 with 0 bogies 1 eagle 3 birdies. $3.6M 

2 S Lowry birdies-19 66 also dominates back 9 but 3 bogies on front place him 2nd. $2.2M 

3 L Glover-18 67 Plays his best tournament in over a year to tie for 3rd. $1.7M

3 J Rose-18 68 Eagles 18 to tie for 2nd.  All 4 Rds under 70. $1.7M

5 C Davis-17 69 Bogie free RD with 3 birdies. $755K

COMMENTARY Best tournament of the year, uncertain weather, picturesque holes, great performances from the most talented and top players.  This could be a start on a great 2025.
