CORRECTION FROM PREVIEW BLOG #188. 

Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win his 6th Race to Dubai Crown, which would tie him with Seve Ballesteros.  The all time leader is Colin Montgomery with 8.

ROUND 1 This is without a doubt the best professional event for the Fall season.  Field includes best DP players and excellent LIV players plus Billy Horschel for the PGA who plays enough DP events to qualify for this tournament.  Whenever an agreement is reached it will certainly include this as well as a few other DP Tour events in the makeup of the new organization.

Also it is rare in these Fall events to have a leaderboard with many favorites in such good position.  Lets see if that continues.

1 Rory McIlroy-5 67 After bogie on 5 finishes with 0 bogies 4 birdies. Finish Wins 

1 Tyrrell Hatton-5 67 Has 2 bogies, birdies 3 last 6 holes to tie Rory for the lead. Finish 6-10

3 Paul Waring-4 68 His 1st win at Abu Dubai last week, continues to play well. Finish 16-5

4 Adam Scott-3 69 Eagles 14 but 2 bogies keep him from lead. Finish 3-11

4 AlexFitzpatrick-3 69 Matt’s brother one of the future DP stars 1 bogie 4 birdies. Finish 24-3

4 Billy Horschel-3 69 Loves to play DP tour, 1 bogie 4 birdies. Finish 47+9

11 Min Woo Lee-2 70 Three bogies on front 9 offsets 4 birdies on back. Finish 24-3

11 Joaquin Niemann-2 70 Great start, 3 birdies in a row then 2 bogies 1 birdie. Finish 7-9

11 Antoine Rozner-2 70 One DB 3 bogies 7 birdies, 4 on last 4 holes. Finish 3-11

20 Shane Lowry-1 71 Just a so/so RD with 1 bogie 2 birdies. Finish 3-11

20 Tommy Fleetwood-1 71 Same as Lowry with 2 bogies 3 birdies. Finish 16-5 

20 Rasmus Hojgaard-1 71 Five birdies 4 bogies, twin brother won last year. Finish 2-13

ROUND 2 Frenchman Rozner was #23 in points and comes out of nowhere to join elite.

1 Antoine Rozner-9 65 Bogie Free RD 7 birdies 3 of last 5 holes.

2 Rory McIlroy-8 69 Starts with 4 birdies on 1st 7 holes  then +1 on last 11.

3 Tyrrell Hatton-8 69 One bogie 4 birdies.

4 Joequinn Niemann-7 67 Eagles #2 then 2 bogies 5 birdies to get back in contention.

5 Shane Lowry-6 67 Starts with 4 birdies on 1st 7 holes then 2 bogies, back 9 three birdies. 

9 T Fleetwood-5 68 Finishes strong with 5 birdies on last 12 holes.

9 Paul Waring-5 71 In contention but 3 straight bogies on 15 to 17.

RPUND 3 Tournament should be decided by final group with Rory the favorite.

1 Rory McIlroy-12 68 Just misses long birdie putt for the lead on 18.

1 Rasmus Hojgaard-12 66 Six birdies on front 9 then all pars on back 9.

1 Antoine Rozner-12  69 Eagles 18th Hole to tie for lead.

4 Joequinn Niemann-10 69 OWGR 138 has played 7 DP events to accumulate RTD points.

6 Tyrell Hutton-9 71 OWGR 18 has played 9 DP events.

9 Shane Lowry-7 71 OWGR 28 three bogies 4 birdies. 

13 Paul Waring-6 71 Drops out of contention with back to back par RDs.

FINAL ROUND As expected Rory finishes 2024 with a double victory winning the DP Championship & Race to Dubai.  No meltdown as in the US Open.   

1 Rory-15 Starts with bogie but then 4 birdies to take charge and birdies 16&18 to win. $2.8M

2 Rasmus Hojgaard-13 Also bogies 1st hole then only 2 birdies no bogies on final 17. $1.2M

3 Shane Lowry-11One bogie 5 pars never really in hunt but strong finish.   $525K

3 Adam Scott-11 68 Bogie free Rd with 4 birdies at 47 had a great year. $525K

This tournament lived up to expectations.  Nice to see Rory finally step up, take charge and win a big tournament.  This will become a relative tournament as part of LIV/PGA agreement.
