Tom Weiskopf designed the Black Desert Course which opened on 2023.  He took special care not to disturb the lava fields making the rough area very difficult.  Holes 2,4,5,7,11 & 14 are blind greens from the tee.  Also 5 & 14 are drivable par 4’s. 

ROUND 1

1 Adam Svensson-11 60 45/1 to win, bogie free RD 1 eagle 9 birdies. Finish 25-13

2 Henrik Norlander-9 62  Bogie free RD with 9 birdies. Finish 8-16

4 Matt McCarty-12 68 First 2 bogies of tournament with 5 birdies, finished #1 on Korn ferry.

4 Sam Ryder-12 66 One bogie 6 birdies, has missed the cut in last 4 tournaments.

25 Lucas Glover-7 66 Up 45 spots with 2 bogies 2 eagles 3 birdies.

CUT-4 Missed Patrick Rogers-3 Peter Malnati, Patrick Fishburn-2, Kieth Mitchel+2,

ROUND 3 Wind more sever today.

1 Matty McCarty-19 64 Starts with bogie  then 4 birdies 1 eagle on 4 to 8, birdies 14,16,18.

2 Kevin Streelman-17 63 Plus 1 thru first 6 then 9 birdies on last 12 holes.

2 S Jaeger-17 68 Three birdies on front 9, then par on back.

2 J Highsmith-17 62 One bogie 10 birdies moves up 16 spots.

5 Kurt Kitayama-14 64 Boogie free with 7 birdies 64 up from #25.

FINAL ROUND Wind similar to yesterday, but scores still low.  

1 Matt McCarty-23 67. Look out for him in 2025, played 4 steady RDs. $1.4M 

2 S Jaeger-20 68 Strong finish with 3 birdies on last 6 holes. $818K

3 Lucas Glover-19 62  Bogie free Rd 9 birdies with one on 18. $443K

3 Kevin Streelman-19 69 DB on 16 hurt his chances to win. $443K   

25 Kutayama -13 72 Birdies last 3 holes front 9,  3 bogies 1 DB on back. $53K

35 Daniel Berger-12 70 RDs of 65 on 2&3, hope he can climb from #140 $37K

Commentary

Again the winner comes out of nowhere to qualify for full membership in PGA tour.  McCarty’s tee shot on drivable 14 is within 4’ of the hole and he eagles to go-22, then 2 birdies and 1 bogie on the final 3 holes to win by 3.  Lucas Glover tied for low RD of the day 62.  

Stephen Jaeger made great birdie putts and missed a few by inches.  I really like Highsmith who started RD 4 with DB on #1 and never recovered.  He may not get his 2025 PGA card, but there are 5 more Fall tournaments, with the Shriners next week.  While these tournaments have lacked big names and purses, they have provided excellent venues and great TV golf.
