SJ Im 16/1 Picked to win and was as low as #104 in the 1st RD last year and never contended.

Billy Horschel 25/1 Led thru 3 RDs last year bogied his 1st hole in RD 4 and was never in it.

Shane Lowry 25/1 Played poorly last year and did not qualify for the tour championship.

SI Woo Kim 25/1. He was never a threat to win last year.

Cameron Young 30/1. An opportunity for him to break out of his slump to get his1st win.

LONGSHOTS

Jordan Spieth 33/1 His game has been so erratic it may be a long time before he wins again.

Matt Kucher 100/1 He came close at the 3M and at 120/1 could win.

Several golfers could win but with this field it is difficult to pick a winner.  

HISTORY  Sedgefield CC, NC PAR 70 Purse $7.9M same as last year.  This is the 85th year for this tournament started as the Greensboro Open.  Sam Snead won his first of 8 in 1938 and his last in 1965 as the oldest player to win a PGA Tour event.  The winners trophy is named for him and last years winner was Lucas Glover-20 at 90/1 odds.  It moved him from #112 to #49 in FedX points and qualified him for the tour championship.   

RESULTS

ROUND 1 Canceled Thursday and partially completed on Friday, concluded on Sat AM. 

1 Beau Hossler -10 60 (110/1) 1 bogie 1 eagle 9 birdies completed RD. Finish 12-11

2 Billy Horschel-8 62 Bogie free RD 1 eagle 6 birdies.   Finish 7-12

4 Matt Kucher-6 64 One bogie 7 birdies.     Finish 12-11

24 Cameron Young-3 Bogie free RD with 3 birdies, 72 on final RD. Finish 22-10

42 SJ Im-2 Second year in a row he is picked to win in the middle of the pack. Finish 41-6

ROUND 2 

1 Matt Kucher-12 64 Bogie free RD 6 birdies, but I don’t think he can keep up.

2 Cameron Young-11 Two eagles but a DB on par 3 #12 as he usually does.

2 Max Grayserman-11 60 Bogie free an unknown but good stats #64 FedX #76 OWGR. 

5 Billy Horschel-10 68 Three bogies he may keep falling.

5 Aaron Rai-10 65 Has 2 bogies and 2 eagles in 1st 2 RDs but he will fade.

5 Beau Hossler-10 Three bogies to lose the lead.

Cut-4 Missed J Rose-3, N Dunlap, S Lowry, A Bhatia, K Kisner, J Spieth-2

ROUND 3&4 Will try to play 36 holes on Sunday.

THIRD ROUND

1 Max Greyserman 66 Takes lead by making an eagle on 15 while Matt Kucher who led thru 11 holes but bogies 3 of the last 7 holes.  Aaron Rai bogies 2 of last 5 holes to finish with 68.

FINAL ROUND Greyserman has a meltdown with a quad bogie on 14 & a 4 putt DB on 16. Kuchar hits his final tee shot then picks the ball up so that he would be the only player to finish on Monday.  He said he did it to “set an example for Max (Greyserman), whatever that means.  He was involved in a caddie-tipping controversy at the Mexico Open in 2018 which I documented in a previous blog.  A wild end to a sloppy tournament.

2 Max Greyserman-16 69 Completely falls apart with Quad bogie on 14 then DB on 16. $861K

5 Luke Clanton(A)-14 69 Despite 4 bogies finishes in the top 10 for the 3rd time this year$0 

7 Billy Horschel-12 67 Only player in top 5 to finish in top 10. $249K
