129 Max Homa+8 78 One DB 6 bogies 0 birdies my pick to win not again this yr. Finish Cut

ROUND 2

1 D. Riley-10 64 Starts on 10 with 5 pars then birdies 6 of next 10 for a bogie free RD.

2 H. Buckley-8 65 Bogie free RD with 5 birdies.

2 Pi Coody-8 65 One eagle, 6 birdies, 3 bogies.

4 K. Bradley-6 66 Starts on 10 with 5 birdies on 11,1,5,6,7 then his only bogie on 8.

7 C. Morikawa-5 Another wild RD 4 bogies 5 birdies.

15 S. Scheffler-3 Up 70 spots bogie free RD with 5 birdies.

25 J. Spieth-2 67 Starts on 10 birdies 5 of 1st 6 holes then pars and 2 bogies rest of the way.

43 C. Hoffman E 75 Starts with 3 bogies on 1st 4 holes then 2 bogies 1 DB 1 birdie.

CUT+2 MISSED Michael Block+6 72&74, Max Homa+7 69 after 78 on his 1st RD.

ROUND 3. Seems like Scheffler will outshine the top 4 even Riley with a 4 stroke lead and his only win was Zurich with Kevin Hardy in 2023, but Morikawa or Bradley could sneak in.

1 D. Riley-14 66 Birdies 5 out of 1st 8 holes then shoots par for final 10.

2 S. Scheffler-10 63 Best RD of day bogie free with 7 birdies.

3 Pi. Coody-9 69 Three birdies but a DB on 9.

3 H. Buckley-9 69 Two bogies 3 birdies.

6 T. Finau-7 68 One bogie 2 birdies, having a good tournament as in the PGA where he faded.

7 C. Morikawa-6 67 Up 8 spots he keeps battling but can he finish.

7 K. Bradley-6 70 Three bogies 3 birdies I thought he was ready to win.

67 Peter Malinati 73 He was playing with Greyson Murray who shot 68&67 in RDs 1&2 but withdrew after 3 straight bogies at the end of RD3.  Malinati’s touching interview on golf channel is worth watching and now he is one of my favorite players he finished #37.

FINAL ROUND Very lackluster final RD with Riley outplaying everyone by shooting par with 4 bogies, but no one especially Scheffler put any pressure on him.

1 Davis Riley-14 70 His only PGA win was at the 2023 Zurich. $1.6M

2 Keegan Bradley-9 67  Due to a par on RD3 he was too far back. $810K

2 Scottie Scheffler-9 71 Shoots+1par with 3 bogeys and 2 meaningless late birdies. $810K

4 Colin Morikawa-8 68 He also was+1thru 10 and then 3 meaningless birdies. 324K$

5 Piersoin Coody-5 74 Nice young player but bogies 3 of his 1st 5 holes. $248K

Other Interesting tournament information.

The tournament was marred by the death of 30 year old Grayson Murray who took his own life.  He openly admitted having alcohol and mental issues but seemed to have straightened his life out.  He won the Sony Open this year (blog#104) but has not been a factor in PGA events  since.  Maybe his poor performance at the end of RD 3 triggered his tragic decision.
