HISTORY 

Field of 132 is pretty good considering it is between the PGA Championship, Canadian Open followed by the 7th signature event Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial.  Last years winner Emilio Grillo-8 is 105/1 to repeat.  This is the 77th anniversary of the tournament started in 1946 won by Ben Hogan who also won in 1947 and 3 more times.  The tournament is dedicated to him as he was a Ft. Worth resident.  Winner gets $1.7M plus a Red Plaid blazer and a restored 1975 Corvette Stingray which is out of sight with the same tartan Plaid upholstererty as the jacket.

FAVORITES Tough to bet against Scottie, but I think he may still be upset about the incident in Louisville.  I am picking Max Homa or Justin Rose longshot If he plays like last week.

1 S.Scheffler 3/1 Makes this area home, knows the course, lost in a playoff to S.Burns in 2022

2 C. Morikawa 15/1 Putted well last week but could not find a birdie in Rd 4 to finish 4th.

3 J.Spieth 19/1 He was a bogie machine in RD4 last week to drop from 19 to 43rd.

4 M. Homa 24/1 Best tournament lately #3 at Masters but I have  a feeling he is due.

5 T. Finau 35/1 He was in the hunt last week but too many mistakes and finished 18th.

6 S. Kim 37/1 Nice player who never seems able to finish.

7 MW Lee 37/1 Media favorite but has done nothing this year.

8 B. Harman 45 Too many bad RDs every tournament, not matching his OPEN victory.

9 SJ. Im 45/1 A very good player but not an elite, ranked too high.

10 J. Rose 45/1 I don’t think he can keep up the pace of PGA last 2 RDs.

VERY LONGSHOTS I don’t think any of these guys can win, but who knows.

1 Billy Horschel 60/1 He shot low RD 64 on RD 4 last week and won at Corales.

2 Tom Kim 60/1 His game is not what it was in 2022 but maybe he makes it happen.

3 Keegan Bradley 65/1 I love this guy, he has the best trophy room in golf.

4 Mark Hubbard 105/1 Was #2 on the 1st RD of PGA then faded to #26.

4 Ben Kohles 310/1Was12th on1st RD at PGA also finished 26, played well at Zurich.

5 Michel Block 2600/1 His Cinderella story is over, but what a ride, finished last in 2023.
