HISTORY

This is the first PGA tournament of the 2024 season which will end with the FedX Tour Championship consisting of 3 tournaments concluding on September 1 at East Lake GC in Atlanta GA.  It will be followed by a Fall season which has not been finalized yet.

This years field will be 35 winners and 25 of the top 50 FedX point getters, for a total of 59 players with no cut.  Rory McIlroy is eligible to make it 60, but decided to play the DP World Tour event as he did last year. 

Last years field of 39 was made up of 30 tour winners and 9 qualifiers, also with no cut.   

FAVORITES

Scottie Scheffler 6/1 Won Hero Challenge in December.  He is back.

Viktor Hovland 8/1 Won last 2 of FedX Cup and $21.7M

Ludvig Aberg 14/1 Won his first PGA tournament RSM in November.

Colin Morikawa 14/1 Won Zozo in Japan in October, first win in 2 years.

Last year he blew a 6 stroke lead in the final RD.

Max Homa 14/1 Best US player in Ryder Cup 3 wins 1 loss 1 tie.

My LONGSHOTS

Patrick Cantlay 14/1 Only other player besides Homa to play well in Ryder Cup.

Xander Schauffele 14/1 He had no wins last year and is due.

Tony Finau 35/1 Strong rumors that he will be the next to join LIV.  I think he will.

Rickie Fowler 35/1 His game has improved in the last 1/2 of 2023.

Justin Rose 90/1 Big payout if he wins, but I don’t think he will.

Lucas Glover 125/1 Won the 3M then St Jude last year with outstanding putting.

MY WINNER Ludvig Aberg- The way he drives the ball and his accuracy with the wide fairways, he has the best chance to win.  I think he will win 2 or 3 times this year with 1 major.

SPECIAL INFORMATION

Sentry Insurance Co commissioned Makai Glass in Maui to design a 35LB handmade trophy. It features a breaking wave and the tail of a humpback whale which takes the shape of two quote marks and is Sentry’s new logo.  Picture shown below.
