October 1, 2023 Ryder Cup Final Round

1  Rahm TIES Scheffler on 18 after going in-1, 2nd time he wins on 18 for a tie

Scheffler His play was disappointing, should have beaten Rahm 0-2-2 

Rahm played very well and made an eagle and birdie on 18 for ties in 2 matches 2-0-2

2 Hovland BEATS Morikawa 4&3

Hovland continues his great play after winning Tour Championship 3-1-1

Morikawa couldn’t make a clutch putt from anywhere 1-3-0

3 Cantlay BEATS Rose  2&1

Cantlay made clutch putts to keep USA in the tournament, beat  a hot Rose on Sunday 2-2-0

Rose played very well, especially clutch putting 1-1-1

4 McIlroy BEATS Burns 3&1  

McIlroy Leading  point producer and had his best Ryder Cup ever  4-1-0

Burns played well on Saturday only, I never thought he should be on the team 1-2-0

5 Homa BEATS Fitzpatrick 1 UP Makes 8’ putt on 18 to win and extend tournament

Fitzpatrick played ok and had a chance to clinch on 18, but missed birdie putt 1-2-0

Homa Highest point producer for USA with win, only flaw was blowing lead on Sat PM 3-1-1 

6 Hatton BEATS Harmon 3&2

Hatton is a pleasent surprise, he played like most people think he should 3-0-1

Harmon he played as expected, no superstar 2-2-0

7 Koepka BEATS Aberg 3&2

Koepka did not perform up to his hype as a big time player 1-1-1

Aberg  performed well above his years as expected and held his own 2-2-0 8 Thomas BEATS Straka 2UP

Thomas lived up to expectations for being on the team, his buddy Spieth let him down 1-2-1

Straka performed as expected, mediocre 1-2-0 9 Scheffele BEATS Hojgaard 3&2

Schefflele is another disappointment, his buddy Cantlay did much better 1-3-0

Hojgaard  did not contribute much but like Straka, not much expected 0-2-1

10 Lowry TIES Spieth

Lowry played ok but performed as expected 1-1-1

Spieth was awful, should have stayed home with his new child 0-2-2

11 Fleetwood BEATS Fowler 3&1

Fleetwood played very well and was a good contributor 3-1–0

Fowler hit his tee shot on 16 in the water, the USA still had a chance poor performance 0-2-0

12 MacIntyre BEATS Clark 2&1

McIntyre may have been the best overachiever in the tournament with 2 1/2 points 2-0-1

Clark like Fowler and Scheffler, a disappointment, did not look like a US Open Champ 1-1-1

Somehow closet Ryder Cup in the last decade.

Big guys for US totally outplayed and really let the team down.  As a total team loosing 4 in the first session and then blowing 3 leads for ties in the 2nd session put them behind the 8 ball.

As always they made a decent comeback in singles, but Scheffler and Morikawa then Fowler and Spieth let them down in singles and all 4 played poorly all 3 days.  Scheffler had moments of the player we know he is, but we expect more out of world #1.  McIlroy, Rahm, Hatton, and Rose played great and were an inspiration to their team.  Homa and Cantlay were the only 2 who truly played inspired golf for the USA.  Thomas was close but they needed more.
