RESULTS ROUNDS 3 and 4 July 22 and 23

KEY GROUPS EST

9:05AM Adam Scott & Scottie Scheffler Both playing below expectations.

9:15AM Koepka & Cantlay It will be interesting how Brooks responds to Cantlay’s slow play.

10:30AM Cameron Smith & Matt Fitzpatrick Lets see if Smith can play well enough to repeat.

2:25PM Max Homa & Rory McIlroy Either one of these guys could get into contention.

2:45PM Cameron Young & Jordan Spieth.  Should be Spieth & Day.

3:10PM Jason Day & Shubhankar Sharma Who is Shubhankar?

3:30PM Sepp Straka & Min Woo Lee,  Lee has won nothing since 2 straight Byron Nelsons.

3:30PM Fleetwood & Harman I have been unkind to Fleetwood in the past, but he is a very good golfer and a good guy.  As much as I love Rory, I hope he wins this one!!!

ROUND 3 Weather good with light rain off and on, little wind.  Total scoring best yet.

John Rahm shoots a Rham type of RD with 8 birdies 0 bogies for 63 to move from 39 to 2nd.

Harmon bogies 2 of first 4 holes, then birdies 4 of the next 14 with no bogies to keep 5 stroke lead.  45,000 fans which is close to record crowds at St Andrews last year.

#1 Brian Harmon-2 69 He could have folded, but finished strong.  May be his time.

#2 Cameron Young-7 66. Runner up let year, who knows.

#3 Joh Rahm-6 63 Lowest Rd of day and record.  Only 14th time in OPEN history for a 63.

#4 Tommy Fleetwood-5 Shoots par not good enough to win.  His inability to win continues.

#4 Jason Day-5 69 Shoots 32 on front 9, but I think the winner comes the top 3.

#10 Alax Fitzpatrick-4 65 Matt’s brother plays on DP Tour, big surprise.

#17 Matt Fitzpatrick-2 67 Would be nice to see them play together.

#24 Cameron Smith-1 68 May not repeat.  Highest LIV player with Reed and Brand.

#24 Rickie Fowler-1 67 along with 18 others.

#64 Scottie Scheffler+4 72 only 1 RD under par, same for Books Koepka.

FINAL ROUND  Weather cloudy, windy with moderate to heavy rain all day.

OPEN truly an international field.  Of the top 23 players going into the final RD;

4 from USA, 4 England, 2 Australia, South Korea & France, 1 from Spain, Austria, Norway, Denmark, India, Argentina, Belgium, Northern Ireland, Japan.

#1 Brian Harmon-13 70 Similar to yesterday he responded to bogies with immediate birdies.  Outplayed everyone, has had 29 top 10’s in the last 6 years without a win.  His putting was. The best in the field.     $3,000,000

#2 Jon Rahm-7 70 Could not match yesterday’s 63.     $1,084,625

#2 Jason Day-7 69 Sub par last 3 RDs, a great finish in a great year for him.  $“

#2 Tom Kim-7 His 67 was the lowest RD of the day, moved from #11 to #2.   $”

#2 Sepp Straka-7 69 He has played as well was anyone lately.     $”

Big names McIlroy, Rahm, Day, Young, Fleetwood, Homa, Hovland could not catch Harmon.
