July 22 to 23, 2023 156 players Par 72 Purse $16.6M from  $14.0+$2.6M=18%

This years OPEN will have 156 players.  Some of the past winners at Royal Liverpool are 1913 JH Taylor, 1924 Walter Hagan, 1930 Bobby Jones, 2026 Tiger woods, 2014 Rory McIlroy.

OPENING FAVORITES ODDS

#1 Rory McIlroy 5/1 After his performance at the Scottish with 2 clutch putts on 17 & 18 to win,

#2 I think he will be the first to win both opens back to back since Phil Mickelson in 2014.

Scottie Scheffler 8/1 He finished 3rd at the Scottish last week, but he does not seem to put four good RDs together to win.

#3 Jon Rahm 12/1 If its not Rory, then I think this guy will win.  Overdue for a great tournament.

#4 Rickie Fowler 12/1 He has been playing very well but not so much last week.

#5 Tommy Fleetwood 15/1 Had the lowest RD in RD3 last week, as usual faltered at the end.

#6 Cameron Smith 15/1 He came from 4 shots down to McIlroy to win by 2 shooting a 64 with 5 straight birdies from #10 to 14 and birdie #18 to beat Cameron Young by 1.  McIlroy who had a 4 stroke lead going into RD4 finished 3rd.  He may repeat.

#7 Victor Hovland 15/1 I don’t think he is ready yet to win a major, he did finish 4th last year.

#8 Brooks Koepka 18/1 He missed the cut last year but always dangerous in a major.

#9 Xander Schauffele 25/1 He has not won in a while, I don’t think things will change.

#10 Tyrell Hatton 25/1 Sames as Schauffele.

REAL LONG SHOTS

#1 Dustin Johnson 30/1 Has been the best LIV player for their 2 years.  Always a chance to win

#2 Shane Lowry 30/1 He came back strong after a poor opening RD in Scotland.

#3 Tom Kim 40/1 He was +3 on #18 last week and except for a few bad holes he was close.

#4 Cameron Young 45/1 Except for Smith’s record 30 on back 9 last year he would have won.

#5 Bryson DeChambeau 50/1 He could be a BIG surprise.

VERY DOUBTFUL LONG SHOTS

#1 Keegan Bradley 85/1 He wants to make the Ryder Cup.  A win or top 10 could seal it.

#2 Sepp Straka 100/1 If he plays 1/2 as good as he did on the last RD to win John Deere??

#3 Sergio Garcia 200/1 Would that disappoint Jay Monahan and the PGA&DP Tours!!!!

#4 Steward Cink 500/1 Tearing up the Champions Tour and beat Tom Watson age 59 in a play-off at St Andrews in 2009.  It was a similar heartbreak to Rory losing last year, same course.

#5 John Daley 1500/1 Had to put him in, just love this guy
