PREVIEW SCOTTISH OPEN
RENAISSANCE CLUB
JULY 7 to 10, 2023 Par 70
Purse $9M + 1M= 11%
The Renaissance Club opened in 2007, so by UK standards it is a very young course (St Andrews Old Course opened in 1895). Renaissance is located between 2 famous courses Muirfield & and Berwick have hosted 26 OPEN Championships. This is a PGA/DP World Tour event. No LIV players will be playing and 75 players from the DP World tour plus PGA and other tour players will make up the field of 156. Last years winer was Xvander Schauffele who was picked 4th to win(18/1).
OPENING FAVORITES ODDS
Scottie Scheffler 7/1 I still don’t trust him to win. He missed the cut in 2022.
Rory McIlroy 8/1 He has finished the last 5 events in the top 10. I think his mind will be on The OPEN next week. The last player to win both was Phil Mickelson in 2013.
Patrick Cantlay 12/1 A mystery man. Very quiet and subdued but a dangerous golfer.
Xander Scheffele 14/1 Has been having a decent year but I don’t see him repeating.
Rickie Fowler 18/1 Won this tournament in 2015 and is on a role. Could win.
Victor Hovland 18/1 This guy is very good and I pick him to win.
Matt Fitzpatrick 22/1 He has had spurts of the guy who won the US Open in 2021.
Tommy Fleetwood 22/1 Has yet to win a PGA Tour event, but could in his home country.
LONGSHOTS
Seamus Lowry 35/1 He won the OPEN in 2019 in N. Ireland and may feel at home.
Ludvig Alberg 40/1 He has made the cut in his first 4 PGA events. This guy can play.
Adrian Meronk 75/1 #3 in Race to Dubai with 3 DP wins. He may be the best long shot.
Seems Power 110/1 He and Billy both very long shots but I liker them both.
Billy Horschel 300/1 He is a quality guy and his game is down trending, love to see him win.
