PREVIEW & LIV Update

RBC CANADIAN OPEN

Oakdale GC Toronto CD

Par 72 Purse $9M+300K=3%

OPENING ODDS

#1 Rory McIlroy 9/2 Highest ranking player and winner last year.

#2 Tyrrell Hatton 12/1 He has been in just about every tournament lately, my pick.

#3 Sam Burns 14/1 He is hot and cold.  Don’t see him in the top 10.

#4 Matt Fitzpatrick 14/1 He won the RBC Heritage in April, been inconsistent since.

#5 Cameron Young 14/1 He has not played well enough to win.

#6 Justin Rose 18/1 He won Pebble Beach in February, so he still has it.

#7 Corey Conners 20/1 I am sure he would like to win in his home country.

#8 Shane Lowry 20/1 He is always a good story but I doubt if he has another win in him.

#9 Tommy Fleetwood 20/1 Should go back to the DP World Tour.  Can’t win here.

#10 Sahith Theegala 28/1 A young guy who will grow, but not this week.

No long shots.  I think one of the top 5 will win.

BIGGER STORY LIV, PGA & DP World Tour announces that they will merge.

A Players meeting will be held at 4:00 PM with Jay Monahan explaining this move.

Two stories are being circulated.

This is a victory for LIV or the end.

I think it is the end of LIV’s current set up with teams and a 54 hole shotgun.

It will be replaced with the traditional 72 holes without teams in 2024.

The current members of LIV will play in selected DP Would Tour events with larger purses, LIV events and some PGA events.

The PGA schedule will go as planned with designated events having a $20M purse, but reduced from 8 to 4.  LIV events will number 4 to 8 with a $20M purse and PGA players will be permitted to play.  As far as what players participate and the number, that will be determined later.

This blog will continue to report on our main objective to give accurate and timely information on PGA Events.

We will address the LIV, PGA and DP World Tour situation as additional information is available.
