RESULTS “B” SECOND ROUND PGA CHAMPIONSHIP MAY 19, 2023
BEST STORY Michael Block shot 70 both days and will make the cut and probably fulfill his goal of being the tournaments Top Club Pro. He is the Club Pro at Arroyo Traduce Golf Club in Mission Viejo CA. At 46 this is his 5th PGA Championship start and he has played in the 2007 & 2028 US Opens but has never made the cut before.
COURAGEOUS STORY Shaun Micheel who was a surprise winner in 2003 at Oak Hill finished #154. Chris Sanger played in his first PGA event and finished last. They are fine golfers, just overmatched by a difficult course and excellent competition. Both should hold their heads high. They competed with the best from the PGA, LIV and the DP World tour and shot less than a shot per hole with the likes of Dustin Johnson in RD 2. They had the courage to match their game against the best in the world and did very well.

HIGHLIGHTS
Scottie Scheffler seems to be ready to win this one. Brooks Koepka shot lowest round and is in contention. Viktor Hovland may win his first major, but he seems to always shoot himself in the foot. Cory Conners has won before and may be ready for his first major. Bryson DeChambeau has been the biggest surprise for me and except for a double bogie on the 6th hole would have been in one of the final groups. Rory looked his best in a long time on his final 10 holes but may be too far behind. Dustin Johnson showed signs of winning in the first RD but 1 DB and 4 bogies in RD 2 not like him. Michael Block, Club Pro, is a great story. Hope he can shoot par the rest of the way, good playing partner in Justin Rose will help him.
