PREVIEW VALERO TEXAS OPEN
TPC SAN ANTONIO OAKS COURSE
MAR 30 TO APR 2 PAR 72
PURSE $8,900,000 + $1M 11%.
This is the 6th oldest tournament started in 2022. It has always been played in San Antonio. Probably the weakest field of 2023 since The Masters is next week. Last years winner was JJ Spahn who played well at the Dell Match Play last week, and is 34/1 to defend his title. Jordan Spieth won in 2021 (it was his first victory since THE Open in 2017) when Ricky Fowler came in tied for 17th. He needed to win to qualify for the Masters, as is the case this year. Arnold Palmer won 3 straight years in 1960, 61, 62.
SENTIMENTAL FAVORITES
#1 Ricky Fowler 20/1 Needs to win to qualify for The Masters.
#2 Pierceson Coody 90/1 Rookie who has played well, may not be ready to win.
ODDSMAKERS FAVORITES
#1 Terrell Hatton 13/1 Finished 2nd at Players but went 0-3 at the Dell. Should not be #1.
#2 Corey Conners 17/1 Has not won lately.
#3 Ricky Fowler 20/1 Has a good chance and I hope he wins and makes The Masters.
#4 Si Wo Kim 21/1 Plays every week, due to win.
#5 H. Matsuyama 24/1 Has had neck and other health issues.
#6 Taylor Montgomery 28/1 May be best bet to win.
PICTURE 16TH HOLE

The 16th is a unique 197’ par 3 with bunkers on both sides and 1 in the middle of the green, which divides the green into 3 smaller targets. It is a tribute to the 16th at Riviera redesigned by Greg Norman with the help of Sergio Garcia in 2010.
