INTRODUCTION TO LIV 2023 COVERAGE BY ogolfit.com February 6, 2023
While the LIV season does not start until Feb 24, there has been much activity concerning their conflict with the PGA both in US Courts and amount LIV players and DP World players.
Most notably between Billy Horschel and Ian Poulter at the DP World BMW Championship at
The Wentworth Clubbing England Sept. 8 to 11, 2022, won by Shane Lowry, and the problem with Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy at The Hero Dubai Desert Classic. McIlroy defeated Reed by 1 stroke by making a 15’ putt on the 72nd hole after Reed had birdied the same hole. However, it will be an issue in 2023 as LIV Players will be playing in at least 3 of the 4 PGA Majors.
Ogolfit.com first tournament coverage of LIV related events will start with
The PIFB SAUDI INTERNATIONAL which is an Asian Tour event February 2nd to 5th.
We will also be covering all 14 LIV events and important issues concerning the PGA & LIV.

The PGA’s second tournament of the year was The Sony Open in January.
The winner was SW Kim, but the tournament lacked most of the top golfers. Does this mean that LIV has weakened the PGA? Has the the PGA’s elevating 13 events, 4 majors, 3 tour championship events lessened the attractiveness of the other 28 tournaments that make up the 2023 schedule? The answers to these questions will have a impact on Professional Golf’s future.
LIV has 14 scheduled events, and has very little media exposure. However, they are paying big purses with everyone being paid (no cuts). Other than Cameron Smith & Dustin Johnson, many of their stars are battling injuries or getting older. However, LIV golfers are being invited to play in The Masters in April, possibly The PGA Championship in May, US Open in June and
THE OPEN in July.
A big question for the 2023 and 2024 Professional Golf Seasons will be how the PGA scheduling and purse changes, and LIV’s success or lack of it will effect Professional golfs future. It is impossible to determine what the outcome of the 2 lawsuits will have, or the reaction to both PGA and LIV players participating in the majors. If both Tours are going to be relevant hopefully there can be an agreement where fans can see all the best players perform in a cooperative environment.
