AT&T PEBBLE BEACH PRO-AM 2023

AT&T TOURNAMENT PREVIEW FEBRUARY 2, 2023

Played on 3 courses, Pebble Beach*72, Spyglass*72 & The Shore Course at Montgomery Peninsula CG*71

Feb 2 to 5 Purse $9,000,000, same as last year PAR*

Spyglass is the toughest out of all 3.

The tournament dates back to 1937, won by Sam Snead who also won in 1938.  It was called the Bing Crosby Pro-AM.  The field is made up of 156 professionals and 156 amateurs. Cut does not occur until after the third round.  The final round features the top 25 teams and top 60 individuals, who will play at Pebble Beach on Sunday.  It is possible for a professional who does not make the top 60 to continue to play if his team is in the top 25.

My Sentimental Favorites

#1 Maverick McNealy 16/1 Rich kid from area who knows course well and plays like a poor kid.

#2 Tom Hoge 17/1 Hard to repeat, but he has played well on ocean courses, #3 at Sentry. #3 Joel Dahmen 33/1 Loved his reaction last year at the 16th hole at WM Phoenix Open.

#4 Seamus 19/1 He and fellow Irishman Shane Lowry played well in Abu Dhabi.

#5 Harry Higgs 180/1 Will be on many lists.  One of my favorites who shot a 62 at AmXp.

#6 Justin Rose 24/1 He has at least one more win in him.

Oddsmakers Favorites

#1 Spieth 9/1 Took 2 weeks off after missing cut at Sony after being #1 in first round.

#2 Fitzpatrick 10/1 Has not done much since winning the US Open last year, he is due.

#2 Hovland 10/1 Well rested and had a win in the fall.

#4 McNealy 16/1 My pick to win.

#5 Hoge 17/1 Last years winner.

#6 Power 19/1 May be ready for a win

The 7th hole is one of the top par 3’s in the world.  CBS #1 Golf announcer Jim Nantz was married there June 9, 2012.  He has a 1/2 size replica in his back yard. Image from pebble beach.com
