SONY OPEN RESULTS SUNDAY JANUARY 15, 2023

This is the second tournament of the calendar year 2023.  Hideki will be defending his title.  He had been nursing a neck injury but is picked 3rd behind Tom Kin & Jordan Spieth. 

ROUND 1 Ryan Armour aced #17, only the 6th time in 40 years.  He is 110/1 to win. 

#1 Jordan Spieth -6  He carded 7 birdies for the lead.

ROUND 2 After being tied for the lead, Jordan Spieth missed the cut with -1.  

He bogied 5 of the last 11 holes and shot 75, eleven shots over his first round.   

Adam Svensson aced par 3 #7 to get to -2 and make the cut.

Missed  a 6’ putt on 18 which would have put him in final group. 7/1

#2 David Lipsky-4(-13) Bogied first 2 holes, then 7 birdies to shoot 66. 8/1

#2 Ben Taylor-5(-13) 8/1

#5 SW Kim-6(-12) Seven birdies 1 bogie to get into top 5. 8/1

#5 Andrew Putnam-8(-12) Shot 62 along with Nick Taylor(-9) for lowest round. 10/1

#7 Will Gordon-7(-11)(Starting odds 65/1) 28/1

#7 Nate Lashley-5(-11) Birdied #18 to tie for 7th (Starting Odds NL) 50/1 #16 JJ Spaun+1(-9) Putted poorly made only 1 put outside 4’ to drop from #2 to #16.

Of the 8 golfers in top 7 only 2 have won on the PGA Tour.

FIANAL ROUND Buckley led most of day.  Kim birdied 16 to take lead, but Buckley followed 

with a birdie on 17 which Kim matched with a birdie from the fringe.  He then birdied 18 while Bradley missed a 12’ putt which would have forced a playoff.

Kim was the most experienced player of top 4.  I doubt any of the other top 4 will win in 2023.

Adam Svensson finished tied for 41st.  His ace made him $28,045.
